What is a recalibration coach ?
Recalibration refers to the fact that it can be so easy to slowly drift away from our needs and wants, leaving us out of whack, frustrated and unfulfilled. Sometimes you just need a little bump back on track, sometimes you need to dig deeper in order to refresh, reframe and rebalance.
What do you mean by helping professions?
In simplest terms I mean professions that work predominantly with people in the areas of health care, education, development, community services, social work and response services. These professions all have a common thread of an external focus working “big” social problems, complex human needs, heavy workloads, high tendancy for stress and burnout and emotional impact stemming from work.
What is coaching?
Coaching is not therapy or counselling and should not be used as a substitute for therapy or medical interventions. Counselling is a past-focused discipline, in which the counsellor identifies the reasons for the person’s feelings and behaviours and offers ways to handle a particular issue. Coaching is a future-focused processes that helps you reach your goals. Coaching is not about giving advice – you are the best expert in your own life. I am a trained JRNI Catalyst Coach and I firmly stand by the JRNI principles that coaching is a process to help you unlock your story and make a bigger impact on the world. It is through your work that progress can be made – my role is to create a safe, non-judgemental space to bring positive energy and support to your journey. I also follow the ICF Standards of Ethical Conduct.
What can I expect from our sessions?
I create a safe and nurturing space that is non-judgemental so that you can fully explore your vision and define your goal. Our sessions will be focussed on your needs and we will use a range of tools and exercises to help support your journey. There will be work for you to do outside of our sessions and the work and energy you put into this is what will move you along. You will be asked to reflect on what you need to change in your life to achieve your vision, and my honest and direct approach will help you cut through the noise to really hear yourself. Working with me you will experience humor, total belief in your abilities and encouragement to bust out of the same old stuff and dissolve limiting beliefs. The underlying principle of self care helps you to focus on moving forward in a way that puts your needs first.
How many sessions do you recommend?
I feel that six one-hour sessions is a good amount of time to start the coaching process – it allows for a good quality deep dive into your vision and goal and provides time for action steps to be supported. You may want to continue after five sessions and that’s perfectly acceptable. The accountability that I provide as a coach creates powerful momentum and many clients wish to continue the relationship for a longer period to ensure they have the support and positive energy to help them through change. Change takes time.
Are our sessions confidential?
Our sessions are confidential including any notes or recordings that I might make. No information will be shared without your consent and that includes testimonial or review information. There are only extreme circumstances where I might need to breach confidence; for example where there are concerns that you or a child in your care may be at risk of harm.
How do we meet for sessions?
Our sessions take place via Zoom either as audio or video calls. You don’t need to download Zoom to access the link, you can simply join via browser. You will meet me in the Zoom room at our session time using the unique link that is shared with you in your appointment confirmation. We have up to 60 minutes available for your scheduled appointments. After each session I will send you a recap and action points to prepare for the next session.
Do I have to sign a contract ?
I provide a coaching agreement that contains all the important terms and conditions about how we will work together and the boundaries of our coaching relationship. Both of us will sign and commit to these terms and conditions.
How do you measure client success?
I begin the coaching journey by helping you to clarify your desired outcomes from the coaching sessions and these then become the guiding framework. Each session will have space for debrief on how thngs have been going in between sessions and we discuss the results you’re achieving. Each session is a like a review in itself, which allows us to tweak and tailor your coaching journey, as we go. The results from my coaching support are contingent on the work that you do outside of our time together. As such results may vary.
Why are there so many garden pictures on your Instagram?
I believe in the power of the green space; it is an integral part of my life and I use my time in the garden as a way to destress, find my flow state and an antidote to spending too long inside looking at a computer. If you are interested in learning more about the power of the green space, let me know and we can incorporate this into your self-care planning.
